Fukuoka is a city bursting with a vibrant food and drink scene. Walk down the streets and small cafes and shops greet you with tempting sweets and the tantalizing smell of grilled food and baked goods.
When it comes to cafes, the city has something for everyone. There are tiny, cozy spaces that serve handcrafted coffees, large, sprawling cafes that are perfect for meet-ups with friends, cat cafes and hedgehog cafes for when you need a dose of cuteness in your life… Believe me, you can find lots of amazing cafes in Fukuoka!
I have spent the last few years scouting out cafes for every occasion, so I’m excited to share my favorites with you! In this post, I introduce 5 cafes that are perfect for remote work.
It’s not easy finding a place that has fast and free wifi, charging ports, and enough space to be able to work leisurely without feeling rushed, but these locations fit the bill.
Add these places to your list the next time you are looking for a place to work, or just pop in whenever for an enjoyable cafe experience!

Tenroin bookstore and cafe. 天狼院書店「福岡天狼院」
This second-floor bookstore and cafe is cozy and warm. Choose a seat at a central table or head to the window for a view that overlooks Imaizumi park. For those who want more privacy, settle down in the small sitting nook. Relax with a cup of piping hot chocolate or tea, or fill your stomach with one of the lunch plates. For artists and photographers, Tenroin hosts special design and photography events.
Wifi: Fast, password provided at the table
Note: The music is nice, but gets repetitive.
WORK ＆ CAFE Ta-Te
Work & Cafe Ta-te is a bright space lit with beautiful natural light. The wooden furniture and green plants give the area a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy specialty teas with a choice of a cookie or nuts on the side.
Wifi: Fast, 160 mb/s
Note: Drinks are more expensive here (~700-900円), but you receive a discount from the second drink. Printer is available.
LAMP LIGHT BOOKS HOTEL
Lamp Light Books Hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Tenjin. It gets popular later in the afternoon so come early if you can. Books line the cafe space which also doubles as the hotel check-in. The croissant sandwiches are delicious and so flakey.
Wifi: Lightening fast, over 300 mb/s! Password at the table
Note: This cafe has a hotel on the second floor that is popular due to its convenient location and affordability. Book here if you want to stay!
UPDATE: Cafe Delta closed as of 6/2023 🙁
Cafe Delta is located close to Yakuin station. From the second-floor window seats you can enjoy the view of passersby. My favorite drink is the Orange Pekoe Tea Latte.
Wifi: Fast, 150 mb/s. Password at seat
Note: Cafe Delta makes homemade bagels. The garlic one is delicious!
HafH Fukuoka THE LIFE
This cafe is super spacious so you can almost always find a seat. It is also large enough that you can take calls without disturbing others. The walls are decorated with art installations and there are occasional musical performances. Enjoy happy hour later in the afternoon with discounted drinks.
Wifi: Fast, ask for password
Note: This cafe has a hotel on the second floor. It is located near Canal City and Hakata Station so it is a good choice if you are looking for somewhere convenient. Book here.
